BDL Books
BDL was established in 1990 by Anthony Gatt. The company is responsible for the sale, promotion and distribution of books issued by leading publishing houses as well as individual authors.
BDL Publishing is renowned for quality books such as the Richard Ellis photography books and a vast library of publications ranging from children’s readers to tourist guidebooks, from novels to dictionaries and souvenirs to prestigious Melitensia. BDL is also behind BDL Fun Games and BDL Edu Games, the first and only range of Maltese board games tailor made for the local market.
In 2018 BDL, in collaboration with i2b, launched OCTAVO, a bespoke digital reading application. The whole project was developed in Malta with the intent of offering the first educational platform that is specifically tailored for the Maltese educational landscape and one which also supports the Maltese language. The oBook, named after the app, uses a smart layout where books are displayed according to a reader’s age and device. With Octavo, readers are treated to an entirely fresh way of consuming digital books.
